MINUTES
- Meeting called to order by Troy Blundell, Chair, excused Kay Dickerson
there was a quorum.
- Welcome, Introductions and then Pledge of Allegiance.
- Minutes of July 7th meeting were presented. Paulina Flint made a motion
to approve the minutes. Motion was seconded and approved.
- Jeremy Christensen gave the Treasurer’s report for July 2010. $4.00
check to pay for maps. $3908.00 Balance. SL County gave just enough to get
the Township Days going. White City has been making up the extra funds.
Received some from donations. Energy Solutions has given $500. Need help
with advertising. Jeremy noted that we will have cost associated with the
upcoming elections. Paulina Flint noted that we need to receive more funds
from SL County. Paulina Flint indicated that would like to get a tarp for
the band. Don Patocka made a motion to accept Treasurers report. Paulina
Flint seconded. Paulina Flint made a motion to move funds of $1000 from
Southeast Township Days for banners. Motion seconded and passed. Jeremy will
make transfer.
- SLC Mayor’s report- Bev Uipi gave the Mayor’s office report. She
reminded us of the upcoming elections. She will be attending the next ACCT
meeting. Budget request are due 1 September. Bicycle Council is on 18 August
2010 at 6pm. Parks discussed possibly $100K to Bear Park to improve
restrooms. Paulina Flint indicated that Wayne Johnson doesn’t see $100K
rolled. 1. Need to upgrade restrooms. 2. Modify Power. Jeremy Christensen
made a motion to draft a letter of support to use the $100K to upgrade the
restrooms, but still wants a capacity study done. Motion passed unanimously.
Troy Blundell to write letter and Bev Uipi asked to copy her. Bev indicated
that twelve new code cases were opened in July, but no details. She will
follow up on tree issue with Jeremy. Ralph Cooley mentioned that there is a
large bump in the bridge going over Dimple Dell on 700 East.
- Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Officer Report was given by Deputy James
Taylor. July has seen an increase in calls as expected with 198 calls, 92
cases, and 105 offenses. Paulina Flint complained about a party at the White
Tower Pool two weeks ago. Deputy Taylor indicated that the noise complaints
originally were in the day. There was an open invite on Face Book that led
to unknowns showing up. He will get details on Sunday problem. It seemed as
though the pool owners did not “police” or have adequate security for the
situation. Paulina called owner and complained. North end of Serpentine
there were kids out late. Don Patocka questioned the traffic on Carnation
Drive (Big Discussion). Deputy Taylor will ask for a patrol and work on pool
issue. Paulina thanked them for their work on Southeast Township Days
- ACCT Meeting – Meet the Candidate is to be September 9th or October.
Need to get Candidate that directly impact community councils. Focus on
County Council Candidates.
- 2011 Budget-. Jeremy will send in 2011 Budget which will be the same as
last year by September 1st. Paulina Flint made a motion to send 2011 Budget
as recommended. Seconded and passed.
- South East Township Days-Paulina Flint noted that volunteers were needed
for the car show, put up signs and help with fireworks. Car show 1 to 7 pm,
Fireworks- as soon as dark - 9:30 to 10:00pm. Parking has been agreed and
approved. Signs need to go up by 15th.
- Elections Committee-Need to put a committee together according to the
handbook. It will be the same as last time. There are 3 Council members not
running for office. Don Patocka- Chairman, Ralph Cooley, and Paul Smith.
There will be two polling places, someone to count ballots and staff tables.
Paulina Flint made a motion to accept Elections Committee as noted. Jeremy
Christensen seconded the motion and was passed.
- New Business –Stefan Wells from Willow Canyon Township came and made a
presentation to hold a bicycle race to be part of the South East Township
Days for the year 2011. This would be a run trail race with about 300 people
using Dimple Dell Park, if it can be cleared. They would use the developed
trails in the Park. Keeping the run in the park would be cost effective.
They would clear and clean trails after the race. They would seek sponsors
to help. It would end with an award ceremony at Bear Park. They would do the
advertising. Jeremy Christensen made a motion to support and recommend to
South East Township Days Council to support this race. Motion seconded and
approved.
- Candidates at Meeting- Melody Shock and LaVar Christiansen. Melody
discussed a Dan Jones poll. Discussed School District changes and concerns
about schools. LaVar talked about Draper Days and how South East Township
Days may evolve and discussed Bear Park expansion and improvements. Likes
his relationship with White City and is concerned about other Councils power
shifts. Troy Blundell thanked them for their attending our Council meeting.
