MINUTES
- Meeting called to order by Troy Blundell, Chair, there was a quorum.
- Welcome, Introductions and then Pledge of Allegiance was led by Gene
Robinson.
- Minutes were presented by Kay Dickerson. Don Patocka made a motion to
approve the February 3rd minutes. Motion was seconded and approved.
- Jeremy Christensen gave the Treasurer’s report for February 2010. Jeremy
indicated that no funds have been received from SL County and we therefore
show a negative balance. The audit of the books has not been completed yet,
but he is still working on someone to complete this task. Don Patocka made a
motion to approve the report. Motion was seconded and approved.
- Report on 700 East Reconstruction was given by Amelia Deslis of UDOT.
She gave a report on the general construction objectives and schedule. She
indicated that the drainage from Larkspur would be handled by a 24 inch pipe
and indicated that this had been worked with Salt Lake County and UDOT.
There was still some concern expressed about the drainage at Larkspur and
700 East by some of the council and she would obtain additional details
before the next meeting.
- Salt Lake County Mayor’s Report. With Bev Uipi out for several weeks
Troy Blundell gave the Mayor’s report. There will be vouchers for dumping at
the land fill but resident have to take material to land fill. These will be
available in April and October. We indicated that we need to get notice to
the community. There is no planned General Cleanup for Salt Lake County this
year. Jeremy Christensen made a motion that in April & October we ask for
3000 vouchers. Motion was seconded and approved. Our area cleanup will be
September 15, 16 & 20. Everyone is asked to take the survey online as to how
Salt Lake County Public works can better serve each of us.(http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/communitycouncil)
- Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Officer Report was given by Deputy James
Taylor. Deputy Taylor gave the January crime stats report. Stats show 151
calls and 57 cases. There were 3 to 4 daytime burglaries in the area. There
was a problem with a three wheeled vehicle on Poppy Lane at the entrance of
9800 South. A speed monitor was requested at 918 Carnation Drive to maybe
slow traffic. There will be UPD Officer training in Big Bear Park for the
next couple of weeks on March 23 & 30, April 19 and May 13. Deputy Taylor

- West Side Community Council Staff report was given by Greg Schultz.
Jordan School District may have to use Capital outlay money to cover
salaries so as not to layoff teachers. They will need Legislative changes to
be able to use it for that purpose. There was a lot of discussion about
unencumbered funding and how this may come about. SB-244 About Snowbird
leaving Salt Lake County failed to pass and will be reintroduced at a later
date. HB-383 Franchise Tax-Rules put on hold.
- 7th East Project-We need a volunteer to work on the Community
Coordination Team to work with other team members in the area to determine
award fees for the contractors on the project to meet each month. The first
meeting is 22 March at 1:30 pm. Kay Dickerson accepted the effort.
